Voice Software for Singing Improves Pitchy Voice

For years contestants on television shows like American Idol have been voted off the island because of pitchy voice. Pitchy voice happens for many reasons. The first is that the singer simply has no internal map for pitch and musical keys. In the second case, the user has a partial internal map for keys, but has difficulty keeping one keys the primary key of the song. That is, they may start singing okay, but then shift to notes of another key. Most of these problems can be rectified with practice and any vocal coach. Next, singers have a challenge hearing their own voice and their voice sounds different in various acoustical settings. The example of sounding good while singing in the shower holds merit, as the singer is getting a high dose of audible feedback about their pitch.

In the real world, singers rarely get such high quality feedback about their voices and must rely on reflections of floors, ceilings and other structures to help key them into pitch. The acoustical environment plays a significant role in the sound and pitch of a singer and this can help and hurt the performing vocalist. Fortunately voice software for singing has been shown to train singers to sing on pitch within a matter of minutes, and continue supporting their pitch with just a few minutes of use as part of their regular warm up exercises.
